Our Vision for the South-East Coastal Region

The South-East Region has the reason to be optimistic about the future.

The region will continue to develop with agriculture as the mainstay. This strong and traditional industry will further diversify with profitable and vibrant new ventures.

The mining industry, which has always been associated with the region, will be rejuvenated to be a key to regional development and prosperity.

Tourism will prosper with the advent of the new infrastructure and a strategic approach to the markerting of the region's attractions.

The major challenge is to ensure that all the future development occurs in a way that realises the region's potential, while respecting community and environmental values.

Through this Blueprint, local governments in the region have the opportunity to cooperate to meet this challenge in partnership with the community.
