New Friday youth sessions following student feedback

The Shire of Ravensthorpe has launched new Friday afternoon youth basketball sessions in direct response to conversations with local student leaders about what young people would like to see in the community.

Last month, Ravensthorpe District High School student leaders met with Council representatives in the Ravensthorpe Council Chamber (pictured above) as part of their official badge presentation. During the visit, students spoke openly with Shire President Cr Rachel Gibson and CEO Nicole O’Neill JP about opportunities for young people in Ravensthorpe, including the need for more activities and dedicated spaces to connect.

Those conversations have now helped shape a new weekly initiative, with free youth drop in and basketball sessions commencing every Friday from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Ravensthorpe & District Entertainment Centre and Sporting Complex.

Open to young people aged 10 and over, the sessions provide a safe and welcoming space to socialise, stay active and connect after school. Participants can enjoy basketball games, shootarounds and casual hang out time, with all skill levels welcome.

No bookings are required and entry is free.
