Visitor Centre Officer
Part Time- 30.4 hours per week
About the role
The Shire of Ravensthorpe is seeking a proactive and community-focused team member to work closely with the Ravensthorpe Historical Society Management Committee and Visitor Centre volunteers. This role delivers a welcoming and professional service to visitors, providing accurate information about the region’s attractions, events, accommodation and dining options, while encouraging patronage of the Museum and supporting visitor dispersal throughout the region.
A key aspect of the position is monitoring and updating the Shire’s tourism digital platforms, including www.fitzgeraldcoast.com.au and social media, in line with the Tourism Digital Marketing Strategy to maintain a strong online presence. The role also assists the Tourism Manager with implementing marketing initiatives, maintains current brochures and promotional stock, and works collaboratively with volunteers to ensure continuity, professionalism and a high-quality visitor experience.
The successful applicant will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in: -
- Relevant qualifications or experience in tourism, marketing or a related field.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Experience with websites, social media and digital content creation.
- Good organisational skills and ability to work independently and with volunteers.
- Understanding of tourism marketing and knowledge of the local region (desirable).
- Retail and cash handling experience with sound computer skills (Microsoft Office, Canva or similar).

Conditions
Applicants must have or be willing to successfully obtain:
- Current C class drivers’ license
- Pre-employment medical including: hearing, musculoskeletal and drug and alcohol testing
- National Police Clearance- no more than 3 months old

This is a Level 3 role offering a total remuneration package starting from $73,550 per annum (pro rata). The final salary will be determined in accordance with the Ravensthorpe Enterprise Bargaining Agreement 2023 and will reflect the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.

The Shire of Ravensthorpe encompasses the settlements of Ravensthorpe, Hopetoun, Jerdacuttup, Munglinup and Fitzgerald and is located within the picturesque Fitzgerald Biosphere Coast region. Located five hours south east of Perth, two hours west of Esperance and three hours east of Albany, the Shire of Ravensthorpe is nestled amongst the spectacular Fitzgerald River National Park, the Ravensthorpe Range and stunning coastline.
