The Shire of Ravensthorpe is encouraging community members to help record local bird species by taking part in bird surveys.
Residents can log observations of birds in their yard, on their property or out in the community using Birdata, BirdLife Australia’s online platform for collecting bird survey data across the country.
Taking part is a simple way to enjoy the outdoors while contributing to the protection of Australia’s birdlife.

Birdata can be accessed via the website or by downloading the app from your app store.
The information collected helps scientists monitor bird populations and supports conservation efforts across Australia.
The Shire of Ravensthorpe is home to a diverse range of beautiful birdlife. By recording what you see, you can help make sure these species are recognised and protected into the future.
BirdLife Australia also offers a free online course to help participants get started. The course provides step by step guidance, from creating a simple bird list through to undertaking more structured surveys, and helps build confidence in bird identification over time.
