Invitation to nominate for the Trails Masterplan Consultative Committee

Published on Wednesday, 26 August 2026 at 11:00:00 AM

The Shire of Ravensthorpe is preparing a Shire-wide Trails Masterplan to guide the future planning, development, management and promotion of walking, cycling, shared-use and other agreed trail opportunities across the Shire.

The Shire invites community nominations to join the Trails Masterplan Consultative Committee.

The Consultative Committee will provide structured advisory input during the preparation of the Trails Masterplan. Its role is to support the Shire and appointed consultant by contributing local knowledge, agency coordination, feedback on draft work, advice on community engagement and consideration of practical trail priorities across the Shire.

The Committee is an advisory body only. It does not have delegated authority to bind the Shire, approve expenditure, direct the consultant, approve construction projects or make statutory decisions.

The Shire is seeking Committee input to help ensure the Trails Masterplan is practical, community-informed and capable of supporting future funding applications, staged implementation, maintenance planning and Council decision-making.

Committee members will be asked to:

  • attend scheduled Committee meetings during the project;
  • review meeting papers and draft project material;
  • provide advice on existing trails, facilities, opportunities, constraints and local priorities;
  • assist in identifying community engagement opportunities and key stakeholders;
  • contribute constructively and respectfully to Committee discussions;
  • declare any actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest; and
  • maintain confidentiality where draft documents, commercial information or consultation information are provided.

The proposed Committee membership includes Shire representatives, one representative from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, one representative from the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, three community representatives and the appointed consultant as a non-member advisor.

The project is intended to be completed by March 2027, and timely participation by Committee members will be important to maintaining the project schedule.

Please find below the draft Terms of Reference for the Trails Masterplan Consultative Committee, which outlines the Committee’s purpose, membership, role, meeting schedule, conduct expectations and governance arrangements.
