Did you know your local emergency management committee meets regularly to help keep our community safe?
The Shire of Ravensthorpe Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC) meets regularly to identify risks, maintain local emergency management arrangements and strengthen coordination across agencies.
The committee includes Shire staff and key stakeholders involved in emergency services across the community, including WA Police, State Emergency Service, Department of Fire and Emergency Services, local bushfire brigades, mining companies and local businesses. Together, they work collaboratively to support preparedness and ensure a coordinated response to emergencies across the region.

At a recent special meeting (pictured above) the LEMC discussed a range of current issues including escalating fuel supply challenges, local emergency management arrangements and a debrief on the recent bushfire season. Support for emergency services and arrangements were confirmed should they be required, noting currently supply has not been impacted.
Shire President and LEMC Chairperson Cr Rachel Gibson said the committee plays a vital role in ensuring the region is prepared for emergencies.
“From West River to Munglinup and everywhere in between, we face a range of risks including bushfire, severe weather and coastal impacts,” she said.
“The partnership arrangements within our LEMC support and develop community resilience.
“Recent fire events have reinforced just how important strong local coordination and preparedness are, and Council remains committed to working with all agencies and volunteers to continue building resilience across the Shire.”
Local Emergency Management Committees provide advice, coordination and guidance to enhance community resilience and emergency preparedness across Western Australia.
