Cr Benno Sutherland was elected Deputy Shire President at a Special Council Meeting in Ravensthorpe on Tuesday 7 April 2026.
First elected in 2025, Cr Sutherland will serve as Deputy Shire President until 2027.
The position became vacant following the tragic passing of former Deputy Shire President Cr Mark Mudie during the West River bushfire in December 2025.
The Special Council Meeting was also convened to swear in newly elected councillors Helen Burton and Geoff Fyfe and to appoint delegates to committees.
Honorary Freeman of the Shire Keith Rowe was on hand to assist during the ceremony.
