The Shire of Ravensthorpe recently assisted the Jerdacuttup Community Association (JCA) with the installation of two new town signs.
Both roadside signs are highly visible for drivers and it is hoped they will help both locals and tourists alike.
Jess Atherton from JCA came up with the idea for the project after years of having to explain where Jerdacuttup was.
“The idea came to my mind after living in this community for 13 years and a lot of people would ask 'where is Jerdacuttup?'," she explained.
"Even local residents who drive through Jerdacuttup to get to Esperance didn't know where it was. So I'd like to thank the Shire on behalf of Jerdacuttup Community Association because from the get go, they were on board with the idea of making known where Jerdacuttup is."
Jess said she is proud to live in Jerdacuttup and she was keen to help others learn more about the community.
"After some research tracking down when Jerdacuttup was established and going through smaller town signs for ideas, we as a community came up with the signs that are now up today," she said.
"It was a must that ‘Where the Fence Meets the Sea’ was on them and ‘EST. 1962’”.
Now there can be no mistaking where this awesome community is!
Looking good, Jerdacuttup!
