Council endorsed nominations for business representatives to join the Ravensthorpe Tourism Advisory Group (RTAG) at the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 20 May 2025.
Cr Sue Leighton was endorsed as the Council representative on the RTAG.
Extensive community consultation in recent years has indicated local businesses and residents want the Shire of Ravensthorpe to do more to support tourism. The recent mining downturn has highlighted the importance of assisting other industries in our region and not relying so heavily on mining.
The purpose of the RTAG will be to provide advice to Council on all aspects of tourism including development, support and opportunities, in accordance with the recommendations within the Shire’s Economic Growth Strategy, Tourism Strategy and Corporate Business Plan.
The Shire of Ravensthorpe invited various community groups and organisations to join the RTAG and also called for Expressions of Interest from local businesses for three representative positions.
The three local business representatives endorsed by Council are:
