Proposed permanent closure of a portion of Old Newdegate Road, Ravensthorpe

 

Notice is hereby given that at its Ordinary Meeting held on 22 September 2026 (Resolution 2026/116), the Council of the Shire of Ravensthorpe resolved to give local public notice of its intention to resolve to request the Minister for Lands to permanently close a portion of Old Newdegate Road, Mt Cattlin, Ravensthorpe, under section 58 of the Land Administration Act 1997.

Location:

Portion of Old Newdegate Road adjoining proposed Lot 3 (comprising former Lots 7, 30, 31, 36 and 177), Mt Cattlin.

 

Reason for closure:

The portion of road proposed to be closed is buried beneath mine tailings and no longer serves a public road function. It forms part of the New Floater Road diversion at Mt Cattlin.

 

Proposed outcome:

Once closed, the land is proposed to be consolidated into proposed Lot 3 under the parallel Western Australian Planning Commission subdivision application.

 

Closure can only be affected by Order of the Minister for Lands following the Shire’s formal request and the Minister’s determination.

A plan showing the extent of the road proposed to be closed, together with Council’s report, is available for inspection at the Shire administration Offices, 46 Veal Street, Hopetoun, and 65 Morgans Street, Ravensthorpe, during office hours.

Submissions:

Written submissions must be received by the Chief Executive Officer by 4 pm on 11 November 2026.

Submissions can be made:

Council will consider all submissions received before deciding whether to proceed with a formal request to the Minister for Lands.
