The Restricted Burning Period for rural properties in the Shire of Ravensthorpe begins on 20 September.
From this date, a permit from an authorised Shire of Ravensthorpe Fire Control Officer is required before burning.
During the Restricted Burning Period, you must:
- obtain a written permit from an authorised Shire of Ravensthorpe Fire Control Officer
- comply with all conditions listed on your fire permit
- register your burn with DFES Communications Centre on 1800 198 140, using the nearest road intersection as the location of the planned burn
- notify the Shire on 08 9839 0000 or shire@ravensthorpe.wa.gov.au before burning.
A fire permit is automatically invalid when the forecast Fire Behaviour Index (FBI) is High or above (24+). Check the FBI for your area at bom.gov.au before burning.
A Fire Control Officer may stop any activity or operation they consider hazardous or likely to start a fire.
Failure to comply with the conditions of a fire permit may result in penalties under the
Bush Fires Act 1954 and Bush Fires Regulations 1954.
Different burning periods apply to residential, rural residential, rural smallholding and special use land, which are already in a Restricted Burning Period.
Burning periods and restrictions may also change depending on seasonal conditions, so landowners and occupiers should check current requirements before burning.
