Shire congratulates volunteer brigades on award recognition
The Shire of Ravensthorpe congratulates its Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades on being named a finalist in the 2026 WA Fire and Emergency Services Awards.
The Shire of Ravensthorpe Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades have been recognised in the Volunteer Firefighting Team Achievement Award category following an intense 2025/26 bushfire season, which included significant incidents at West River and Fitzgerald River National Park.
The annual awards, presented by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, recognise outstanding contributions to emergency services across Western Australia.
Shire President Cr Rachel Gibson said the finalist recognition reflected the dedication and professionalism of volunteers during a challenging fire season.
"Our volunteer bush fire brigade members showed extraordinary commitment throughout the 2025/26 bushfire season, responding to significant incidents while helping protect our communities," she said.
"The fires at West River and Fitzgerald River National Park required a tremendous effort over many weeks, and this recognition reflects the teamwork, resilience and determination shown by our volunteers."
"On behalf of the Shire of Ravensthorpe and our community, I congratulate the Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades on this well deserved recognition and thank them for their ongoing service."
