The Shire of Ravensthorpe would like to thank Shire President Tom Major, Cr Graham Richardson and Cr Roger Mansell for their dedicated service to the community.

All three have decided not to run for Council again and their terms officially end this week.

Our longest serving councillor, Cr Richardson, is stepping down after almost a decade in the role.

Cr Major has served eight years on Council, with the last two as Shire President. He is heading overseas for a year of travel with his family.

And circumstances have changed for Cr Mansell, who joined Council in July 2024, he is stepping down as he is now based in Esperance.

Deputy President Mark Mudie said the three councillors each provided valuable input on decisions and had contributed greatly to the community.

“On behalf of Council and the Shire I’d like to thank each of them for their service to the community,” he said.

“I want to acknowledge Graham’s time on Council, just shy of ten years, which is a fantastic effort. And I’ve really enjoyed working closely with Tom in his role as president over the last two years. He’s been at the helm during some very testing times for our Shire, including the closure of the local mines, and he’s lead the team in a positive and proactive way.”

New councillors Benno Sutherland, Bill Auburn and Maz Szulc will be sworn in at the Ordinary Council Meeting in Ravensthorpe on Tuesday 21 October 2025.
