The Shire of Ravensthorpe is planning for the long term health and wellbeing of the community, with Council adopting its inaugural Public Health Plan 2026–2031 at a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday 2 June 2026.
The plan provides a framework to guide the Shire's role in protecting and promoting public health, while identifying priorities, partnerships and opportunities that will contribute to a healthy community.
Shire President Cr Rachel Gibson said the health and wellbeing of residents was fundamental to the long term strength, resilience and sustainability of the community.
"This is our first Local Public Health Plan and it provides an initial framework to guide the Shire’s role in protecting and promoting our community’s health,” she said.
“It aligns with our broader Community Strategic Plans and outlines a structured approach to maintaining and enhancing the services, facilities and initiatives that contribute to wellbeing across the Shire.”
The plan recognises that public health extends beyond healthcare services and includes factors such as recreation opportunities, environmental health, community safety, social connection, emergency preparedness and access to services.
