This week is Keep Australia Beautiful Week and sadly our ranger team has recently reported an increase in littering around Ravensthorpe.
Old building materials, car and machinery parts, bags of rubbish and broken garden pots were some of the items found dumped in the bush in the last month.
This is disappointing on a number of levels. Mainly because littering pollutes our environment, but dumped rubbish also makes our shared public spaces look messy and unloved.
With an influx of visitors expected in the region shortly for the annual Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show, we want out natural landscapes looking their absolute best.
There is no excuse for littering within our Shire as both Hopetoun and Ravensthorpe have waste facilities where you can take your rubbish.
The opening times are listed here.
If you see anyone littering or if you find any dumped rubbish, please contact the Shire of Ravensthorpe rangers on 08 9839 0000.

Dumping rubbish of any kind on any land not specified as a waste facility is is an offence under the Litter Act 1979.
Please help us to keep our part of Australia looking beautiful.
