Draft amendment to Dogs Local Law 2010

The Shire of Ravensthorpe is pleased to announce that the draft amendment to the Shire of Ravensthorpe Dog Local Law 2010 is now available for public viewing. 

Reason for amendment:

The purpose of this draft amendment is to enhance and modernise the existing Dog Local Law 2010 in response to changing community needs and evolving industry standards.

The amendment aims to address issues related to responsible pet ownership, safety, and the welfare of both dogs and the community. 

Key areas addressed in the draft amendment include: 

  • Clarification of dog registration and identification requirements
  • Updated regulations for dog exercise areas and prohibited zones
  • Improved guidelines for the management of aggressive or dangerous dogs
  • Revised penalties to ensure compliance with current standards

You can also view the draft in person at each Shire of Ravensthorpe office in Hopetoun and Ravensthorpe from Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm.

This legislation shall come into effect 14 days following its publication in the Government Gazette.
